What an AI chatbot does for your site

A website chatbot handles three jobs well: it answers buyer questions at any hour, checks whether the visitor is a fit and books the next step while interest is warm. Each one replaces a form that sits in an inbox overnight.

  • Answer. A visitor on your pricing page asks if you repair heat pumps in Round Rock. The bot replies in seconds from your service area page and links to it.
  • Qualify. It asks what your sales team asks first, such as timeline, location and project type, then tags the lead in your CRM.
  • Book. Good fits pick an open time. Everyone else gets a useful answer.

Short job lists win for a reason. Gartner found that customers whose chatbot misunderstood them, gave generic information or made it harder to reach a person are more likely to pick another channel next time. A bot that does three jobs reliably earns a second chat.

Accurate answers, by design

Accuracy comes from limits. Our chatbots answer only from content you approve, say plainly when they don't know and pass the visitor to a person. Your business owns every word the bot types.

A 2024 tribunal decision shows why. In Moffatt v. Air Canada, the airline's website chatbot gave a customer wrong advice about bereavement fares. The British Columbia tribunal ordered Air Canada to pay, finding the airline responsible for all the information on its website, whether it came from a static page or a chatbot.

Each build runs inside the Five Fences.

  1. Approved library. The bot reads only your chosen pages and files.
  2. No guessing on money or rules. Prices, refunds, medical and legal questions go to your team.
  3. Easy exit. Typing "person" or "agent" opens a handoff at any point.
  4. Full logs. Every transcript is saved.
  5. Launch audit. We review early chats and update the library before handover.

Which chatbot platform fits you?

The right platform depends on how much your bot needs to do. A chat widget built into your CRM suits simple FAQs on a small site. A custom-coded bot suits businesses that need answers grounded in their own documents, qualifying logic and booking in one flow, with a handoff whenever a question gets hard.

Where chatbots pay off

  • Home services: service area and booking questions after hours
  • Clinics and dental: booking, with clinical questions sent to staff
  • Ecommerce: shipping, returns and sizing answers from your policies
  • Law firms: intake and consult booking, with legal advice left to attorneys

A sample conversation, start to finish

This chat on a home services site shows how one visitor moves from first question to booked visit, including the handoff. The visitor gets quick answers, and your team gets a qualified lead with the transcript attached.

QuestionDo you fix heat pumps in Round Rock?Yes. Round Rock is in our service area. Want to book a repair visit?
QualifySure. It's blowing cold air.Got it. Is it an existing system, and roughly how old?
BookExisting, about eight years.Thanks. I have Tuesday 9 a.m. or Wednesday 2 p.m. Which works?
HandoffTuesday. What will the repair cost?Price depends on the diagnosis, so I've passed your details to Maria on our service team. She'll confirm by phone.

Sample data for illustration.

The bot creates a CRM contact tagged "heat pump repair, Round Rock" and books the slot. The price question trips the second fence, so a person answers it.

What AI chatbot development services cost

Chatbot cost tracks how many jobs the bot does and which systems it connects to. Answering questions from twenty pages is a smaller build than qualifying, booking and writing to your CRM. We fix one price once we've scoped the jobs together, and you pay it once.

What affects cost

  • How many pages and documents feed the library

  • Chat volume, since AI model usage is billed by use

Is this right for you?

Right for you if

  • Your team answers the same questions weekly.
  • Visitors reach your site outside business hours.
  • Your policies are written down.
  • You want leads booked automatically.

Not the right fit if

  • Your site gets a few visits a week.
  • Nobody keeps your service pages current.
  • No one can pick up handed-off chats.
  • You want the bot to quote final prices.

How it works, step by step.

  1. 01

    Scope the jobs

We list the questions and booking rules it owns.

  2. 02

    Build the library

Approved pages become its only source.

  3. 03

    Test hard

Real questions run until every answer holds.

  4. 04

    Launch and handover

It goes live, we review the first transcripts, and it's yours.

Questions, answered.

Ask us directly
How much does an AI chatbot cost?

It depends on what the bot does. Answering questions from a few pages is a smaller build than qualifying leads, booking appointments and syncing with your CRM. You pay us once for the build. After that, the only running cost is AI model usage, billed to you directly by the provider and rising with chat volume.

Will an AI chatbot give wrong answers?

Any AI model can get things wrong, so we limit what ours can say. It answers only from approved content, refuses to guess prices or policies and hands unclear questions to a person. Saved transcripts and monthly audits catch weak answers early.

Can a chatbot book appointments?

Yes. Once a visitor answers your qualifying questions, the bot shows open times from your calendar and confirms a slot inside the chat. The booking and transcript land in your CRM, so your team knows the job before the call.

Does a chatbot help SEO?

Not directly. Google ranks your pages, and chat replies usually aren't indexed. The indirect value is real. Transcripts show the exact questions buyers ask in their own words, which tells you which FAQs and service pages to write next for search and AI answers.

What's the difference between a rule-based and an AI chatbot?

A rule-based bot follows fixed buttons and scripts, so an unexpected question stalls it. An AI chatbot reads free text and answers in plain language. We combine both, using AI to understand questions and fixed rules for pricing, booking and handoff.

Can the chatbot hand off to a real person?

Yes, and every build includes it. Visitors can type "person" at any point, and the bot also hands off when a question falls outside its library. The handoff goes to live chat, email or a callback request, with the transcript attached.
