What entity-based SEO is
Entity-based SEO helps search engines and AI tools understand your business as one distinct thing with known facts, such as who founded it, where it operates and what it sells. An entity is anything that can be clearly identified, such as a company, a person, a product or a place.
Keywords tell Google what a page is about. Entities tell it who is behind the page and how that links to everything else it knows. Picture two firms called "Summit Legal," one in Denver and one in Boston. On keywords alone, Google and ChatGPT can mix them up. With clear entity signals, each has its own address, founders and reviews tied together.
AI answers raise the stakes. Before Gemini can describe your company, it has to know which "Summit Legal" you mean, and conflicting facts can blend you with someone else. Our Same Story Method fixes that by getting every source that talks about you to agree on the core facts.
A ten-minute entity check you can run
One Google search for your brand name and two AI prompts will tell you a lot about your entity health. These five checks show whether Google and AI tools know exactly who you are, or whether they're filling the gaps with old data.
- Search your exact brand name. Does a knowledge panel or Business Profile appear, and is it yours?
- Check the facts in it. Logo, address, phone and website should all be current.
- Scan page one. Your site, LinkedIn and review profiles should fill it. Old directory listings point to weak signals.
- Ask ChatGPT "What does [brand] do?" Note anything outdated or invented.
- Ask Perplexity "Who founded [brand]?" Check the names and linked sources. No answer means few trusted pages mention your leaders.
Write down every wrong or missing fact and where you saw it. Each line on that list becomes a fix we can plan.

Test my brandHow we build entity clarity
We build entity clarity in three layers: your own site, the profiles you control and the third-party sources you earn, each repeating the same core facts. We start on your site because that's the layer you fully control, then move out to profiles and press.
On your site, Organization structured data goes on the home page. Google's organization schema guide says it can help Google "disambiguate your organization in search results." The sameAs property lists your official profiles elsewhere. Your About page then states founders, location and services in plain text.
| Signal | Where it lives | What it confirms |
|---|---|---|
| Organization schema | Your home page | Name, logo, contact details |
| sameAs links | Inside that schema | Which LinkedIn, Crunchbase and social pages are yours |
| About page | Your site | Founders, history, services, location |
| Google Business Profile | Address, hours, reviews | |
| Directory listings | Industry and review sites | Same name, address, phone |
| Press and mentions | News and trade sites | That others know you |
Knowledge panels and branded search results
A knowledge panel is the box Google shows beside results for a well-known entity, and Google's knowledge panel help says panels "are automatically generated" from sources across the web. Nobody can buy or request one, so the path is giving Google consistent facts to build from.
Two things are worth knowing before you chase a panel:
- Local businesses use Business Profiles. Google's verification help says businesses serving customers at a location or in a service area should create a Google Business Profile.
- You can claim a panel that exists. Click "Claim this knowledge panel" and verify through an official account such as Search Console or YouTube. Then you can suggest edits directly.
Branded results matter even without a panel. When someone searches your name after hearing about you, page one should show your site, profiles and reviews you'd want a buyer to read. We track it monthly beside how AI tools describe you.
Entity SEO pricing
Entity SEO starts with a setup phase, then shifts to lighter monthly upkeep once your facts line up. Cost depends on how tangled your current facts are, how many profiles and locations need fixing, and whether you've changed names or merged recently.

Ask us directlyWhat is entity-based SEO?
It's the work of making search engines and AI tools recognize your business as one distinct thing with known facts, such as founders, location and services. It uses structured data, consistent profiles and third-party mentions so you're less likely to be confused with similar names.
How do I get a knowledge panel?
You can't request one. Google generates knowledge panels automatically from sources across the web. Clear Organization schema, consistent profiles and real third-party coverage give Google the facts it needs. Local businesses should set up a Google Business Profile first, since that's what shows for them.
What is sameAs in schema?
sameAs is a property in Organization structured data that lists URLs of your official pages on other sites, such as LinkedIn, Crunchbase or social profiles. It tells Google those pages describe the same business, linking your site to the rest of your presence.
What is entity-based SEO vs keyword SEO?
Keyword SEO matches pages to the words people search. Entity SEO makes sure search engines know who you are and how you connect to people, places and topics. Keywords win specific searches, and entity signals help AI tools describe you.
How much should I pay for SEO services?
It depends on scope. Entity SEO can be a smaller line item than full SEO, since much of the work is a one-time setup followed by monthly upkeep. A useful quote names every profile, schema type and page the provider plans to fix.
What are the three types of SEO services?
The usual split is on-page, technical and off-page SEO. Entity SEO touches all three: schema and About pages on your site, clean technical markup, and profiles and mentions on other sites. It ties them together around one clear, consistent description of your business.
